Bhagavad Gita

The Gita in the title of the Bhagavad Gita means "song". Religious leaders and scholars interpret the word Bhagavad in a number of ways. Accordingly, the title has been interpreted as "the word of God" by the theistic schools,[17] "the words of the Lord",[18] "the Divine Song",[19][20] and "Celestial Song" by others.[21] In India, its Sanskrit name is often written as Shrimad Bhagavad Gita, श्रीमद् भगवद् गीता (the latter two words often written as a single word भगवद्गीता), where the Shrimad prefix is used to denote a high degree of respect. This is not to be confused with the Shrimad Bhagavatam, which is a Purana dealing with the life of the Hindu God Krishna and various avatars of Vishnu.

The work is also known as the Isvara Gita, the Ananta Gita, the Hari Gita, the Vyasa Gita, or simply the Gita

Bhagavad Gita THE ESSENCE OF GEETA

Krishna tells Gita to Arjuna.jpg

The Bhagavad Gita (/ˌbʌɡəvəd ˈɡtɑː, -tə/; Sanskrit: भगवद् गीता, IAST: bhagavad-gītā /bɦɐɡɐʋɐd ɡiːtäː/, lit. "The Song of God"),[1] often referred to as the Gita, is a 700-verse Hindu scripture that is part of the epic Mahabharata (chapters 23–40 of Bhishma Parva), commonly dated to the second century BCE.

The Gita is set in a narrative framework of a dialogue between Pandava prince Arjuna and his guide and charioteer Krishna. At the start of the Dharma Yudhha (righteous war) between Pandavas and Kauravas, Arjuna is filled with moral dilemma and despair about the violence and death the war will cause in the battle against his own kin.[2] He wonders if he should renounce and seeks Krishna's counsel, whose answers and discourse constitute the Bhagavad Gita. Krishna counsels Arjuna to "fulfill his Kshatriya (warrior) duty to uphold the Dharma" through "selfless action".[web 1][3][note 1] The Krishna–Arjuna dialogues cover a broad range of spiritual topics, touching upon ethical dilemmas and philosophical issues that go far beyond the war Arjuna faces.[1][4][5]

Numerous commentaries have been written on the Bhagavad Gita with widely differing views on the essentials. According to some, Bhagavad Gita is written by Lord Ganesha which was told to him by Vyasa. Vedanta commentators read varying relations between Self and Brahman in the text: Advaita Vedanta sees the non-dualism of Atman (soul) and Brahman (universal soul) as its essence,[6] whereas Bhedabheda and Vishishtadvaita see Atman and Brahman as both different and non-different, while Dvaita Vedanta sees dualism of Atman (soul) and Brahman as its essence. The setting of the Gita in a battlefield has been interpreted as an allegory for the ethical and moral struggles of the human life.[5][7][8]

The Bhagavad Gita presents a synthesis[9][10] of Hindu ideas about dharma,[9][10][11] theistic bhakti,[12][11] and the yogic ideals[10] of moksha.[10] The text covers jnanabhaktikarma, and Raja Yoga (spoken of in the 6th chapter)[12] incorporating ideas from the Samkhya-Yoga philosophy.[web 1][note 2]

The Bhagavad Gita is the best known and most famous of Hindu texts,[13] with a unique pan-Hindu influence.[14][15] The Gita's call for selfless action inspired many leaders of the Indian independence movement including Bal Gangadhar Tilak and Mahatma Gandhi; the latter referred to it as his "spiritual dictionary

Rama's final journey to Vaikunth When Lord Rama sent Hanuman on ...

Presence

Our life takes place only at a moment called the present. Unlike the present, the past and the future exist in our mind only, as memories and ideas. Or do you think that it's possible to eat from the memories of yesterday's meal, or from ideas about the lunch of tomorrow? Can you love someone yesterday or tomorrow or at least say it to him/her in the past or in the future?

Presence

Although everything happens only in the present, the present moment can be realized only by the spirit, when human perceives deeper. Everyone hopefully did experience such a thing in moments when felt deep love towards someone, was amazed by something extremely beautiful, or experienced a profound, breathtaking moment of happiness. Or in emergency situations requiring attention, or while in danger, when it was necessary to act immediately. These are the situations which make man to be present in the present, paying attention to what is happening right now and making thoughts stop for a while.

Even at the peak of sexual power temporarily perishes the world of reason and enables one to feel the present moment, although man often is unable to sense it due to the sole rational life. However, it is the feeling of eternity, which we experience in the present moment, that fills us with happiness; not the situations themselves.

A good joke can also get people to experience the present. The human brain is pursuing the text of the joke and wants to be wise, as usually. The joke, however, ends illogically and in a completely different and unpredictable way, that makes the mind "reset" itself and deactivates it for a while. Then we laugh from the joy of experiencing the present moment.

The state of attention is also typical for musicians. The better the musician, the more attention he pays or, the less thoughts, the greater the ability to feel the music. Thoughts stay in the way while listening to music, because the human mind is slow and insufficient to meet the fast changing of the melody and rhythm.

An illustration of how thinking can hinder in the playing the music is in the story of a pianist who had always stage-fright on concerts and made a lot of mistakes. Once after a concert the teacher was fed up and told him: "Stop thinking about what people think about you! Just play! Play for the music itself! Feel it fully, as if nothing else existed." He told him those words so seriously that his pupil at last took his advice and no longer waited for the approval of the audience. Together with the ideas about what people think of him, the stage-fright disappeared, and he stopped making mistakes. At the same time, his ability to play and sense the music improved. Finally, he became a famous piano virtuoso.

It is similar in other areas of life. People who are attentive use to notice all the "little things", which others overlooked because of constant thinking. It's exactly those important details that lead to perfection of their work and make them become masters. We use to say: those people are clever, gifted, they have talent or a gift from God... but they are successful mostly because they live in the present more than in thoughts. And this gift to perceive reality by spirit and to live vigilantly in the present is something we all got equally. Those who are using this gift only did not hide their talent.

Living in the present, means to be free of the constant flow of thoughts that often completely overlaps our deeper consciousness. For, if you keep on thinking about something all the time, the spirit is not able to express itself. Then we only see a tiny part of the presence, of what is around us and within ourselves, also in a very shallow way. That is why many people fail to enjoy the present. No wonder, when they barely realize it...

To avoid confusion, it must be said that to use the brain as a tool, when we need to do something, is not wrong. That's why we have it. Likewise, it is good remembering the past and taking lessons from it, as well as deliberately planning the future. But it is not right at all if we just constantly think about the past or about the future, and yet our presence, in which we only can really change something, escapes.

What happened a day, an hour, or even a second ago, already belongs to the past. , You cannot change what already happened. So why keep on analyzing in our head all around the old situations, what we have done and what not, what should or should not, could have done or not, and how would it be, if we did it in a different way..? Many times we even think instead of others and we set them in imaginary situations...

Also the visions of the future are only our wishes. But our future will be undoubtedly only as we create it by our thoughts, words and deeds in the present. So why live in the past or in dreams of the future? This way we just rob ourselves of life which is always happening only in the moment of the presence. All the precious moments will pass around us without any use and without bringing us happiness, since we did not outlive them; the opportunities for good changes will remain unnoticed.

“Living” in memories and ideas brings also suffering, because man, by his thinking, defines narrow borders of life and creates the concept of time. Suffering is possible only in this created psychological time which originates in comparing. "Then was a good time, but it is over now... and who knows, what is to happen next."One compares a past situation with a vision of future or long since passed, and recent past, for example yesterday's situation with what happened today. And the present yet runs unwatched further and man is troubled. None the less, he suffers only by exchanging living in present for thinking about life.

“When I work, I think of my girl and when I am with her, I think of work. What should I do?” A lot of people have problems like this. Because they permanently deal with something else as currently happening, life brings them no satisfaction.

If one lives in the present, even unpleasant situations do not bring him suffering. Mental suffering emerges only because of thinking about life situations and comparing. After all, if someone walks down the street, does the fact that something unpleasant happened in his life, for instance a breakup, mean anything? Will flowers, trees and houses around him change, now that he has no partner? When he walks down the street and does not think about what happened, there is no suffering. If he lives in the present, he sees the life around him as it is, and it fills him with happiness. He sees flowers in their simple beauty, he feels their fine refreshing fragrance, feels the careful hand of the gardener behind them, as well as the power of life that flows in everything and brings life to everything. When one lives in the present, there is no reason for suffering.

The world of ideas is negative also because it is often completely unrealistic. When we think about what happened, what somebody said... we place our own ideas about ourselves and about the others. We modify their properties or completely make them up, so that they fit into our story. Our stories are based, of course, on the actual events, but we often saved them in our memory distorted and changed. We became very good at it, so that we often don't even realize we are doing it.

Mother tells to her son: "I borrowed this thing from her and forgot to return it. And she told me that it is urgently needed. What would she think of me? Should I confess that I remembered, but I preferred to watch TV? Or should I offer her financial compensation for the damage?" One thought follows another, when suddenly there is the right one! "I could not return it to her yesterday because I could not walk. I twisted my ankle." "Stop laughing, can't you see how I'm halting?” she says to the son. She somehow forgot the fact that she only stepped badly on her foot and even that it happened only this evening. A few hours later, she finally leaves to return the borrowed item and tells to her son: "I'm going to return it. Yesterday I couldn't, because of the ankle." The son is surprised: "But mom, you have figured it out. Here, in front of me. "Don't tell me the stupid thing, it was so. You even do not notice that your mother is ill, you only hang out and do nothing at home. I'm leaving now, you only hold me off!"

The human mind cannot leak into the moment of presence. For it is too slow and cumbersome. But it is possible to create your own world within it, a world separated from reality. For many people it seems like a more comfortable solution than living in the eternal presence. So they rather vegetate in their thought creations. But if we live in the memories and ideas, in fact we do not live our life for real. We just imagine it.

Inability to stop constant thinking is a problem, which most people suffer from. We are slaves enslaved by our own thoughts. Along this thinking we barely notice what we are doing - otherwise we could not be destroying the possibility of life on earth and repress the rests of our spiritual abilities, which could have been still waken up to the life. However, let us not forget that the human brain is bound to the material. This means that the possibility to live in the world of imagination, which we created in our thoughts, will once end for each of us, forever. Only what revived its own life in the eternal presence will remain.

Talent

 Talent

There is nothing that cannot be learned, and there is no talent which cannot be obtained and mastered. Stories of God's gifted people are spread...

There is an opinion among people that if one has a talent such a person must have been gifted since birth. If someone cannot sing, for example, he may say to himself that he will not learn how to sing because he is not gifted. By the law of "cause and effect" it is not possible to be able to sing without previous practicing.

Thus, if a genius soul is born, special aptitude had to be developed before birth. It is very naive to say the opposite. Stories of God's gifted people are spread only because of laziness. It is easier to talk about "God-given" talent - many times with open jealousy - than to put effort into something, cultivate your own skills and overcome idleness! And particularly this type of people neglects their God-given talent.

There is nothing that cannot be learned, and there is no talent which cannot be obtained and mastered. Anything is achievable if there is volition and determination. Unfortunately, many of us create a mental barrier before starting to learn something. "I am not able to do that, I do not have talent for it..."And many others daily repeat: "...in word, deed, or thought..." it seems that they are not aware of practical impact of the words; in turn, they use power of faith for their disadvantage.

Another source of failure is the desire to get everything immediately and for nothing. To achieve something requires putting someone's effort into it. Jesus' words "...knock and the door shall be open unto you..." cannot be interpreted: "...wait until you will get" but "knock" - be active, partake, and endure to reach your goal. Then the door shall open.

Spoken words reflect whether desire is honest and serious. There is a big difference between "I want to know" and "I want to learn". One who wants to know would like to be already at the end of a goal but one who wants to learn is willing to step on the path toward a goal. There is nothing achievable without self-effort and hard work. There are usually small steps and persistent endeavor (not a great talk) that create a great thing.

Reason for such activity is very important. The reason for being a musician can be driven by the desire to become a famous, well-known, established person with feelings of superiority, or it can be driven by music itself. Music can be comforting or it can be exalted to the spiritual level, replenishing hearts of listeners by Creator's love, by something which is deeper than just pleasure of good music. Motivation is fundamental purpose of deeds. Personal desire conveys also spiritual power which is necessary to achieve a goal. It is driven in the same direction as the true, honest purpose regardless of how the real goal is masked or adorned.

It happens many times: somebody picks up an instrument and fails to play a melody. The player puts it away within couple of minutes, even seconds, saying: "I do not have talent". It is naive to assume that you can master an instrument in such a short time. But if a person pays attention and will not believe that s/he will become a virtuoso immediately, it is possible that after some time s/he will make a nice tune. It seems s/he must have a talent, but reason for success is elsewhere and simple. He would notice that if his finger-hole closing on whistle is wrong, it will make shrill sound. If he would cover holes properly the sound will be clear and nice. If he would notice that opening hole by hole from the end of the whistle makes higher sound, he discovers how to play a scale and therefore melody. Only by accurate blowing, too, is a nice and harmonious tone made. Blowing too strong would cause a higher tone, blowing less than necessary would cause a wobbly tone. It is obvious that a player who pays attention has to notice this. But if someone wants people to be attracted by him, he will not notice such a trifle as a wrong finger hole closing. He is preoccupied with himself, his outlook, thoughts of other people and words about him. He does not pay attention to an instrument. Obviously, he fails to play.

Success can be achieved after all by awareness and focusing on current activity. You might dispute that ability to be focused on, too, is a talent for which one can or cannot be gifted. Concentration is essential for human beings. If you want to do something properly, you have to be conscience and pay full attention to it. You will enjoy what you do; you will thrive and spiritually grow. And after you master your art you will obtain personal assets and possessions and you can be born with this gift again.

Little things make a master the master (not details - that would be perfectionism). Those little things are essential and very important. They cannot be omitted. Here is an example for better understanding. When a carpenter uses a chisel it needs to be done in a correct direction in order to slide the sharpened edge along with wood fibers. If it would be done in opposite direction, wood would sliver and surface would be rough. Everybody who has ever done this knows that if a wood slivers that means the chisel is used in opposite direction. Wood has to be turned in the right direction. Some carpenters turn wood around this way all their lives, because they do not see these "little things" that would show them correct direction for chiseling. These are annual rings on wood. They converge on one side showing the direction for cutting as an arrow.

These little things, which actually represent the basics, are in every art, craft or virtuosity. They open a gate for seeing and knowing; therefore they make a path towards mastery or virtuosity. The key from the gate is consciousness and sensibility.

Another reason why some people are successful is motivation. If achievement is of a generous nature, it creates beautiful lucid radiation and according to the law of uniformity it will be blessed. Desire which is enlightened by true yarning to help others or to relieve ailment will be connected with enlightenment on the same level. It will generate inspiration. The mind will be innocent and enlightened by good and surprisingly simple ideas. Clear inner experience will strengthen a spirit which will help it to be more focused, aware and sensible. The work will flourish even if it will be done for the first time. Success will be obvious after a few days compared to others who perform the activity many years.

Every person carries inside some spiritual spark as an essence of being. No one was created with perfection or being less perfect. We differ from one another by how we manage and develop our spiritual awareness and eventually our earthly skills. Do not waste time by admiring others but dare to take a move forward.

Love of man and woman

 Love of man and woman

Much has been written and said about love. However, its concept has been often distorted. Perhaps the biggest mistake is to brand physical form of love between man and woman sinful. Love in its nature is only spiritual. Physical (erotic) love is its reflection in the physical plane. Physical love is natural and desired by God. How could people even accept the idea that naturalness given by the Creator, which gives rise to all biological life, is sinful? Has nobody realized how huge is the amount of energy emanating from sexual power? Has nobody noticed how two clean people in love shine?

It is followed by another distortion, which is to declare women as an inferior being. For centuries, women were used as exchange goods for heifers, territories, Kingdoms. After such trade, in which love had no place, the ritual of a priest supposedly sanctified sexual abuse of women by men and got rid of its sinfulness! We could long ago have figured out that the quality of love between man and woman determines the quality of the next generation. How different are children conceived out of love from children arising from sex!

The third perversity and negation of love is fornication. Fornication is a sexual intercourse without spiritual and mental love. Thus, sex for money, for peace in marriage, out of erotic curiosity, out of vanity, self-abuse, early sex, homosexuality, sex between relatives, perversion, and especially sex for pleasure. If sexual relation is based on spiritual love, its motive is the will to give partner tenderness, to balance sexual charge of partner’s spirit. So, it is about giving! If sexual relation is based on selfishness, its motivation is to take pleasure for oneself. As a result of these conflicting motives: to give – to take, energetic actions from erotic process take place completely differently. If the motive is to give, then the partner is given energy and thanks to love, he feels energized, balanced and happy. He does not feel tired! However, if the motive is to take, then the spirit of partner is deprived from energy and the result is feeling tired, disgusted by carnality, having a feeling that the world is futile. God forbade people from fornication for their own good! The result of fornication is loss of sexual and vital power. It does not matter whether it happens within marriage or outside it.

The fourth distortion is surrounding the processes of physical love by a veil of secrecy.

Light has no secrets. Young people should be fully informed. However, the role to instruct is often undertaken by people to whom there is nothing but just the physical matter. Those people are learned sexologists, as if love could be studied! What can they say about spirituality and sentiments, which are precondition for true love? They can only teach how to fornicate! In their opinion, the purpose of sexual act is discharge of sexual power, so-called sexual gratification, not giving partner the sexual power.

Another manifestation of distortion and ignorance is the claim that the sole purpose of sexual connection is to have children. The ideal is represented by a family of twelve children whose parents cannot even properly support them, cannot raise them responsibly and give them adequate attention. The result is not paradise on earth, which we are supposed to build, but the valley of tears where only hope for “heaven after death” is well sold. Wisdom of love also includes conscious parenthood!

The sixth manifestation of distortion is acting against creativity, hence also against creativity of love. Numbness and stereotype result in loss of joy of love.

Conditions for achievement of true love:

The first condition is developed spiritual dimension of man. Only people alive in their spirit are able to receive radiation of Creator’s love, to be shaken by it and to give it to their partner too. In that case, spiritual and emotional love controls the direction of sexual instinct. Spiritual guidance of such man then arranges the meeting of his ideal partner at the right time. People, who have not developed their spiritual dimension, are unable to truly love.

The second condition of true love is gender equality. This equality is not only legal status. To understand it we need, first of all, to realize that female spirit is different from male. Men are characterized by active creative energy – so by activity, toughness, hardness, rationalism, and they are built better for life in the material world. On the contrary, women are characterized by passive creative energy, thus by receptiveness, intuitiveness, adaptability, sensitiveness, and they are built better to perceive the spiritual world. Men have a greater predisposition to have a rational view of the world whereas women look at the world rather emotionally. Their inner mental connection enriches them both; they have more coherent worldview and they complement each other. Being aware of qualities of the opposite sex is the fundamental building block of love. What we love on the other person are that person's personality features we do not have, which tremble in God's will. So, actually, we love God, source of all goodness, even by loving our partner.

The third condition of true love is humility – awareness of one’s own imperfection. Out of love towards partner, one tries, firstly, to hide his bad traits and then to eliminate them. Such effort is concrete manifestation of love; this is the greatest gift because it takes most of effort. Nobody wants to change out of his/her own accord! Only love is so magical, that it triggers the transformation of one’s own character with intention of bringing joy to his/her beloved person. Therefore, love is the greatest stimulus for spiritual growth.

The fourth condition of true love is complete openness. It is necessary to tell partner everything; it is the only way to become part of the other! Those who would not support it are not capable and worthy of true love. Sexologists, on the contrary, teach partners about so-called marital games whose essence is pretending behavior. Partners have to play an act and do not take everything too seriously; to play game of life in actual life. Therefore allegedly marriages persist; otherwise people are allegedly polygamous (having more than one partner). But those who say such things have never experienced the state of true love. Love is perfectly monogamous! When man and woman are internally connected, both are automatically “castrated” against others. This means that they do not view others as sexual objects. For the reason that real relationships virtually disappeared, desire for opposite sex arises in our subconscious mind; and all, single and married, are constantly erotically attracted to opposite sex. Their subconscious is continuously looking for true love, not being able to find it.

The fifth condition of true love is complete exclusion of property, social and family matters from relationship. Woe to those who try to prevent true love for such reasons. What God has joined together, let no man put asunder! Love is negation of evil influence; therefore the evil attaches such importance to legal and rational reasons by means of opponents of true love.

The sixth condition of true love is to be prepared for it and pray for it. To those who knock, the door will be opened. However, they must be worthy of true love and be ready for it. According to the law of uniformity, prepared man meets prepared woman and unprepared man meets unprepared woman. In the latter case there is only one solution – mutual efforts toward improvement; after all, that’s why they met each other. Then, they both grow into a better person.

True love between man and woman is reciprocal giving – giving without conditions and demands for repayment, because such is the nature of the world. Those who stop giving, loose their ability to love. Therefore, they fall into ego, loneliness and despair. They are not punished; they punish themselves for disrespect of the spiritual order of creation.

Good and bad

The good and the bad are terms related to the so-called “horizontal level” of life, which is the consequence of our present life situation. The person evaluates it subjectively as good or bad. By contrast, there is need to distinguish words “goodness” and “badness”. These serve to describe the spiritual direction of man - “the vertical” of his life. If you imagine human being as a point through which the horizontal of the expressed earthly life and the vertical of spiritual life comes, you will get a cross. The cross is a symbol of Truth; the level of your life (horizontal) will be proportional to your spiritual quality (vertical). So if you really want to change your life and its external circumstances, change yourself.

People look at the world around them mostly in a subjective way, because they usually see it only in relation to themselves. “This is what I want but not that, this is good and this is bad...” - according to whether it suits them or not. In fact, things are not good or bad. We only make them look this way. We call the rain a good thing when it waters our garden and a bad thing when we want to be outdoors; a fire in the fireplace is called a good thing on a cold evening, but the summer heat is considered a bad thing.

Opposites such as “good” and “bad” somehow belong to one another like two sides of the same coin. Once you see it from one side and then from the other one; yet you never see both sides at the same time. Seeing the two opposites and mystically connecting them is something only a fully aware person can do - an individual who experienced both opposites, knew them and learned to love them, or more plainly, accepted them without grumble. We learn that something is good only in comparison with its bad opposite. Without contrast nothing would exist. After all, how would you know what is beautiful if you did not know what is ugly? How would you realize what is happiness if you wouldn't know what it feels like to be unhappy? But when you stop judging things around you in terms of whether you like them or not, your subjective view changes to the objective one and you see things as they are. Then you will really understand life and you will be able to live fully.

What is a good thing for one person can be bad for the other. You can slice bread with a knife but you can also kill with a knife. “Slice of bread” from a poor family (to take from the little they have), however, is not good, and to kill, for example, a pig, may be good for its owner. But it would be bad in case the pig has some illness. Good can easily turn into bad and bad into good, and what once was convenient can be a burden now.

Most of the things according to which people act change their situation only in the horizontal way and are irrelevant for the quality of life - like a particular brand (of car, beer, clothing), where to go shopping... In contrast to this there are opposites that lie on the vertical line and choosing between them does really change our lives. For example: pride - humility, greed - generosity, fornication - chastity, envy - goodwill, gluttony - moderation, anger - tolerance, laziness - diligence.

Good and bad

Based on our choices, we tend to go towards the good or the bad. On the way to the good, the good things can help us, as well as the bad ones. When, for example, someone at home wakes us up in the morning and drives us out of bed, we see it as a bad thing if we did not sleep enough. However, when we learn not to be angry with them (which is not easy if it is a repeated situation), we become tolerant. If we learn to wake up early in the morning and not around lunch time (a thing we will initially perceive as bad and unpleasant), we will overcome our own laziness and gain time which we previously outslept. Every step on the vertical line changes us and thereby our lives will be different. For example, thanks to earlier getting up from bed we can experience a lot during the day and later, at night, we have no need to sit somewhere in a pub and “beat the air”. Birds sing lovely in the morning and the weather is usually nicer before the noon; on the contrary, alcohol and cigarettes “taste” better in the evening than during the day. We only have to step out high up on the vertical and the way gets each time easier, because while we go along it, it changes also our whole live. After all, it is a reflection of our internal state. When we are tolerant, other people are tolerant towards us. When we are not lazy to do something for others, other people come and help us, too, if we need it. If we are generous, others will give us what we need just at the moment we appreciate it in the most. We therefore wish you a lot of strength and patience on the way through the vertical line of your personal cross.

Fire, Water, Air, Earth

Not only our planet, but also the entire universe is formed from material particles in the act of Elements. It is just the dissimilarity of the elements to which we owe many thanks for the diversity of the world we live in. However, all things visible and invisible originate from only one source of life. That is why recognition of the four faces of all-including unity, out of which the elements arose, enables man to develop spiritual consciousness and become aware of this unity.

Fire, water, air and earth as we commonly know them are but outwardly manifested forms of the Elements themselves. Their manifestations are as follows: the element of water has magnetic properties; it nurtures and sustains. The element of fire has electrical and creative properties. Air is a detaching element and enables co-existence of the two main elements, fire and water. The element of earth binds fire, water and air in various proportions, which makes possible the formation of materials with different properties.

To better understand the operation of the elements, let us see how it works in practice. For illustration, the roots of a tree absorb water and minerals necessary for growth from earth (the elements of water and earth). The tree breathes through its leaves (the element of air) and receives light and warmth from sunbeams (the element of fire). If you set the wood of a tree on fire, the elements would be released from it. The water will evaporate, the light that has shone on the tree for many long years will burn out in a mighty flame, the oxygen the tree has been “breathing out” will enable this energy process of burning and nutrients from the soil will turn into ash, which will again serve as a source of minerals for other forms of life.

The human organism also contains all four elements. Disruption of the delicate harmony of elements in the human body gives rise to diseases, especially by abusing the energy of elements or by blocking it. However, it is not our target to try to sustain this harmony at the material level, but at the spiritual level. Because what we see on the outside is always only a manifestation of the spiritual.

The elements that form the material world are also included in man’s character. According to which element predominates in him, he can have a choleric, sanguine, melancholic or phlegmatic nature. In human interaction, each of these natures is important, because it enables to “see a matter” from all sides and considering all aspects of a performed activity enables mankind to get their works closer to perfection. In fact, there are twelve human natures, which are a mix of the four elements in various proportions and you know them as the twelve signs of the Zodiac. Interaction of the two main elements can also be found in the union of male and female, where the man by nature of his being contributes to the relationship the creative powers of fire, whereas the woman contributes the sustaining powers of the element of water, forming a necessary foundation for the active operation of the man.

Each of the four elements is inherently neutral and is neither good nor bad. It is man who gives to the acting of the elements a good or bad character. But, in order not to get stuck in theory, even though correct knowledge is also important for the spiritual development of man, we will look at both positive and negative character qualities that man can develop within himself.

Reading the individual qualities you may get the feeling that you lack many character traits of the element that predominates in you or you may even find in yourself many traits from the other elements. It depends on how developed you are as a human spirit and how many qualities you have already developed through experience. Or in other words: some bring forth thirty-fold, some sixty-fold and some one hundred-fold crop. All, however, must reach perfection by transforming all the negative qualities into positive qualities.

The element of fire (choleric)

Positive qualities: vigorousness, zeal, enthusiasm, courage, decisiveness, power of creativity, daring, sedulity...

Negative qualities: quarrelsomeness, irritability, urge to destroy everything, passion, immoderacy, jealousy, voraciousness, vindictiveness, violence, hate, anger, sudden ebullition...

The element of air (sanguine)

Positive qualities: vigilance, care-freedom, kind-heartedness, trusting nature, clarity, lightness, independency, dexterity, optimism, diligence, acuity, joy, smiling...

Negative qualities: lack of perseverance, dishonesty, gossipy, cunningness, backbiting, garrulousness, inconstancy, touchiness, prodigality...

The element of water (phlegmatic)

Positive qualities: understanding, placidity, mildness, trusting nature, devotion, mercy, forgiveness, modesty, compassion, fervour, pliancy, meditativeness, internalization...

Negative qualities: indifference, heartlessness, laziness, indolence, rigidity, lack of daring, lack of concern, unstableness, dejection...

The element of earth (melancholic)

Positive qualities: consistency, conscientiousness, perseverance, punctuality, caution, resistance, responsibility, carefulness, firmness, reliability, sobriety, ambition, respectfulness, matter-of-factness...

Negative qualities: stuffiness, superficiality, laziness, indifference, cumbersomeness, touchiness, lack of conscientiousness, irregularity, timidity, scornfulness...

Everyone has a free choice, but also responsibility to decide how to use the power of the elements and which qualities we develop in our character. But if we still have untransformed negative traits in our characters, then do not wonder if we do not do well in some areas of our life, or if you cannot soar towards the longed-for Light after death of your physical vessel.

Origin of the human being

The human being consists of two aspects - of an immortal spirit and of a mortal body. The flesh comes like a gift of the mother Earth and the spirit of the father God. We dedicate excessively big attention to the first one, but nearly nothing to the latter one; and sometimes we even forget that it exists. However, there is a saying that a shirt is always closer to the body than a coat.

Our planet was developed within the process of evolution - step by step. Millions of suns originate in the nebula and disperse into the space. When we see them on the night sky, we call them the stars. On their long way across the space planets were created from the stardust around them, like around our Sun. Millions of years passed until life could be developed on our Earth. First, it was born in water; only then did it arise up on the surface and gradually populated it. Within many thousands of years, miscellaneous genera of animals were developed as well as several hundred thousands sorts of plants. By adaptation in various climatic conditions every area got its individual, non-repetitive look. This did not happen by itself - but everything, even the smallest flower, was created... by someone... And this work had lasted for ages.

When the perfect one among the animals - the Primate came to life during the "evolution" with a sufficiently perfect body, then it was time to furnish this body with a spirit - a human spirit. Man learned to handle it well and took care of it. The monkey's body got flatter by the human spirit's conduct and it became nicer - it transformed into a gentle shape. Thus, the first records of our human body appeared.

To explain the origin of the human spirit, we have to try to describe the Divine Creation at least in a metaphoric way. It's far greater than it is possible to imagine. The whole material universe is only a slight part of it on its border. The Creation has innumerable quantity of levels and the range between each of them is colossal. Perhaps we might compare it to a temperature change, if we could travel from Earth to the Sun. And every extra level containing the whole worlds is even more admirable; the God's emanation is even stronger. But God is much greater than His Creation. He is like a painter and His Creation is like a picture He made. But the painter is more then a picture. The Love emanating from Him creates and nourishes the whole Creation all the time. The divine beings were formed first with closest touch with the Creator. The divine emanation cools itself off by being more and more distant and it gives prospects for creation of other forms of beings, which could otherwise not exist in such strong vibrations. From the cooled emanation other and other divine beings are formed and the emanation gets even cooler again. Thus, other levels of beings originate, as well as the realms of angelical worlds. Each of those beings was created as a perfect and conscious entity. But the emanation is, even after multiple cooling periods, yet very strong and it still gives a possibility to produce another life. It is a niche of the human spirit's origin, which was not created as the awaken one, but to whom a possibility was given to achieve this. Each spiritual spark that wanted to achieve this awakeness received a spiritual body from the Creator and hence independent beings came to life. However, the spiritual spark contained the full knowledge and perfection, the being that had been created from it was unconscious, because it didn't live its own life, it didn't know anything about its primeval perfection.

In order to let human spirits come to the point of their consciousness - awakeness, they must descend down into the material world, which was created from the emanation of the Divine Creation. By going through every level, the human spirit puts on other bodies, which make it possible for it to stay in the new environment. In the present time, we are able to take a photo of the heaviest bodies. We call them astral bodies and their emanation is called aura. Depending on the situation that attracts the human spirit and what sorts of experience it wants, it chooses such parents that it deems best for its purpose. It happens in the middle of a pregnancy when the spirit enters into the material body. As a child - after the birth, it learns ways how to command the body and it gradually becomes familiar with the world around. When the child grows up, a spiritual strength opens up in him (or her) and he enjoys life in its fullness.

Having experienced various life situations in the material world, the spirit develops its knowledge and, in fact, recreates itself. It becomes what it learned through its experience. To make this possible, the oneness of the material world is separated into a duality of contradictions: pleasure - sorrow, happiness - misfortune, good - evil, warm - cold, a lot of - a little... For the total knowledge it is necessary to take a look at both these contradictions. How could we otherwise realise the feeling of success if we have never encountered a failure? Or how can we know what is nice if we have never met an ugly thing? The depth of our laughter shelters the innermost profundity of our biggest sorrow. Without it, our laughter has a low bottom. We encounter pain in order to learn to forgive; we encounter misery only to be thankful for moments of affluence... Thus, we are slowly able to feel and wake up the spirits in us.

The difference between the spirit and the body is similar to the difference between the player and a figure in a computer game, with which the player plays. The figure dies, but the player does not. On the contrary, the player's abilities expand by the knowledge he learns throughout the game. Our lives are similar to such a game. Everyday we pass through various such game „levels" - situations of various difficulties; the way we solve them contributes to our strength, or reduces it. The more „points" we obtain, the better is our ability to solve more difficult situations.

Whoever already has something, the more be given to him; and whoever does not have anything, even the little that he has will be taken away from him. If man will not recognise his spiritual source and will identify himself only with the material body and intellectual knowledge, if his desires will only cover the material level, he will forever stay attached to the material world. And unless he does not know anything about his spirit (of which he is actually formed), he remains spiritually blind and deaf, unable to return to lighter spheres. Even in case he graduated from three universities and is a reputable expert, it does not matter. The knowledge he learned will be lost with death of the body, because it is dependent on the material brain. Only those spheres will stay behind which human beings spiritually experienced and became aware of with their feelings.

Do not be like the one who went to study an expensive education only to obtain important knowledge and in cheap amusement forgot the reason why he had left and never returned home. Treasures of the whole world, too, cannot be compared with home of the human spirit. Please do not imagine the divine worlds to be too earthly like a heaven where there is nothing to do except sitting on a cloud and drink calyx of immortality and enjoy doing it with family and friends who came back to life. It would be absurd! Now we live in the three-dimensional world, which has its height, width and depth. The fourth dimension is time. In the world of higher levels the time does not exist and the past and the future exist simultaneously in the presence. In the world of even much higher levels neither the time nor space do exist, although they are latently present in the whole omnipresent oneness. The origin of human spirit belongs, however, to even higher levels, but it is not easy to profoundly describe this by our human language. It's impossible. And each higher level is far more perfect than any lower one and it has an incomparable quality of higher sorts.

If these words say nothing to you, you will surely understand them when we explain the difference among dimensions on lower levels. Let us compare our three-dimensional world with the two-dimensional one, which has only the height and width. It is like a picture with one area only. You can explain anything to a figure of man drawn in this two-dimensional world - it will never understand you. Likewise, our three-dimensional human brain cannot comprehend a more dimensional divine world of the spirit. That can be only done if it is perceived by the spirit, which is a more natural way to do for human beings, although they probably forgot it. So let's recognise the fact that our rational limitations are tight; let's get rid of all those naive ideas and let's live awaken like spirits and let's remember - we are the spirits!
