The new year festival Chaitra sukhladi , ugandi,Gudi Padava,Cheti Chand,Navreh and Sajibu Cheiraoba are being celebrated today in different parts of the country.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will observe the festivities fast from today for 9 days.
Has been following the practices for over 4 decades.
President Pranab Mukherjee vice president Hamid Ansari and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have greeted the nation on the occasion.
In this message the president said that festivals mark on the onset of Strings and promised the press beginning of the growth prosperity and well being.
